Organisers of the Auckland Rainbow Parade are calling on volunteers to make art to support the annual Parade set to take place on the 18th of February 2023 on Ponsonby Road, Auckland.
If you feel like you missed your calling and have an artist inside just busting to get out – this could be your chance.
Rainbow Pride Auckland is calling on 25 volunteers to help create a commemorative piece of art, and the best thing is you don’t need artistic talent, just enthusiasm.
Rainbow Pride Auckland is creating a fundraising opportunity for the Parade, which involves
the creation of a piece of art. The artwork has already been designed and will be cut into
sections and then divided out for anyone wanting to take part in creating the final replica.
The design is made up of some key elements spanning the years, e.g. Hero Parade, Queen
St (where the Parade first started), Western Park, Ponsonby Road, Air NZ’s Pink Flight, to
Mardi Gras, to name just a few.
None of the people assisting with the creation will know what the final design is until it
comes together on display at the event hosted by MediaWorks.
Limited prints of the final artwork will be available to purchase, and the final artwork will be auctioned off on TradeMe over a two-week period.
If you think you have an artist inside that needs to be released, you can sign up here.
Applications close on Friday the 2nd of September, and you will be supplied with a tile of
the artwork – paints and brushes supplied courtesy of sponsor Resene to be painted as
per a template that will be provided.
