The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s 2023 Season is filled with highlights to delight both regular concertgoers and new audience members alike, including favourite films with live orchestra!

Two classic nineties Disney offerings will have their scores brought to life, live on stage at Auckland’s Aotea Centre.

Pixar’s most successful movie of all time, the animated classic Toy Story, and spooky live action romp Hocus Pocus, starring Better Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, will both be screened on the Aotea stage, as the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO) play along live to their film’s iconic scores.

A truly wonderful experience for all the family, position yourself as ‘guncle’ or ‘gaunt’ of the year by taking your niece/ nephew or even your own fearsome brood if you have one. An APO show in a nurturing, enriching environment for Rainbow families and a wonderful way for children to experience a 70-piece orchestra in full flight.

They’ll be wanting to learn their own instrument in no time, while you enjoy the power and mystery of the film’s scores, alongside hilarious vocal performances from Tom Hanks and Tim Allen in Toy Story and the three campiest witches you could ever imagine in the cult classic Hocus Pocus.

Toy Story (rated G) will be performed on Saturday 23 September 2023, at the Aotea Centre. Hocus Pocus (rated PG) will be performed on Halloween night, Tuesday 31 October.
