One of Auckland’s favourite night-time playgrounds, The Civic, heats up this winter as Auckland Live Cabaret Experience presents the ultimate blend of finesse and glamour, with two exhilarating cabarets taking over the Civic Theatre main stage this June.
From Thursday, 22 June, to Saturday, 1 July, The Civic will again honour its rich cabaret history, offering audiences the chance to make memories and have their senses soar.
An experience that will have you gripping your seat, Circa’s Peepshow (Club Remix) will make its world premiere during the Auckland Live Cabaret Experience for four performances only (29-30 June & 1 July) with big beats, playful acts, and thrilling acrobatics.
A smash hit across Australia, Circa’s Peepshow has astonished audiences in Berlin, London, and Sydney. Outrageously skilled, delightfully funny, and razor-sharp, this remix is set to a pumping soundtrack and a live DJ, Ori Lichtik, with some of the best acrobatic talents on the planet under the direction of circus visionary Yaron Lifschitz.
On Thursday, 22 June, the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and some of Aotearoa, New Zealand’s finest singers, come together to celebrate the late composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim in A Night of Sondheim.
Sondheim is responsible for creating some of Broadway’s most popular and cherished shows and was described by the New York Times as a ‘Titan of the American Musical.’ This concert will feature Sondheim classics like ‘Tonight’ from West Side Story and ‘Send in the Clowns’ from A Little Night Music through to favourites from Company, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, and Follies. This concert will showcase some of the very best musical theatre tunes ever composed.
