Raising funds for their Learn & Participate music education programme, Auckland Philharmonia is bringing Studio 54 to Auckland Town Hall with Boogie Wonderland.

Prepare to step into a world where the disco balls shine brighter and the beats fuse with symphonic sounds in a way you’ve never experienced before. On the evening of 16 May, Auckland Town Hall is set to host an extraordinary event that promises to be an unforgettable blend of music, glamour, and philanthropy. Boogie Wonderland: Disco Ball, presented by Auckland Philharmonia, is not just any night out – it’s a journey back to the era of disco, elevated by the majestic sounds of a full symphony orchestra.

The event beckons everyone to embrace their inner disco diva with sequins and flares, creating a vibrant atmosphere where the spirit of the 70s meets contemporary flair. Attendees will be treated to performances by a stellar lineup, including the sensational Annie Crummer (When The Cat’s Away), Dillon Rhodes of Hipstamatics fame, and the soulful tones of LOUANA. These artists, alongside the full might of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and the electric disco DJ sets from Nathan Haines and Jaimie Webster Haines, promise an eclectic night of music that will have everyone on their feet.

Transforming Auckland Town Hall into a spectacle of glamour and glitz, the event will feature a Studio 54-style bar and disco-themed dinner stations. For those moments when you need to catch your breath between dance-offs, lounge seating areas will offer a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the ambiance.

The music selection is nothing short of spectacular, with orchestral arrangements of disco classics such as Night Fever,’ Young Hearts, Run Free,’ and (Thats the Way) I Like It.’ Under the baton of Maestro David Kay, these renditions promise to bring a new depth to the disco hits we all know and love.

But Boogie Wonderland: Disco Ball isnt just about revelling in the nostalgia and excitement of disco; its an event with a heart. By attending, you’re supporting the Auckland Philharmonias charitable efforts, particularly its Learn & Participate music education programme. This initiative reaches over 20,000 young people and adults across Tāmaki Makaurau, offering them valuable engagement with music education and orchestral experiences.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Auckland Philharmonia, Auckland Live, and Little Wolf Catering, this event is poised to be a highlight on Auckland’s cultural calendar. Tickets include event entry, two complimentary beverages, and an array of food options from delicious dinner stations. With tickets now on sale, this is one dazzling night you won’t want to miss.
