Noah Williams celebrated winning a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics on 29 July in a memorable and heartwarming way: by kissing his diving partner, Tom Daley, on the cheek.
The affectionate gesture came after the pair secured silver in the men’s 10m synchronised platform diving final, scoring 463.44 points. They finished second to China’s Lian Junjie and Yang Hao, who took gold with 490.35 points.
Daley, holding a rainbow flag, appeared pleasantly surprised by the kiss, which added to the jubilant mood of their podium moment. The silver medal is Daley’s fifth Olympic medal, completing his collection of bronze, silver, and gold.
Williams expressed his excitement on Instagram, describing the experience as an “absolute dream come true.” He praised Daley, whom he admired growing up, for the opportunity to compete alongside him. “Olympic silver medallist. Absolute dream come true,” he wrote, alongside two kissing emojis. “Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me. It was the best to compete next to you @tomdaley.”

In the stands, Daley’s husband, Dustin Lance Black, and their son, Robbie, watched with pride. Their younger daughter, Phoenix Rose, born in April 2023, was also part of the family celebration, albeit too young to fully appreciate the achievement.
The kiss between Daley and Williams, who has been in a relationship with his girlfriend Lucy for five years, was a heartwarming display of friendship and camaraderie. It resonated with fans who praised the lack of toxic masculinity and the openness in their friendship. One social media user commented, “Love the camaraderie,” while another added, “Shout out to all straight guys who aren’t afraid to have gay friends.”
This moment is just one example of the positive atmosphere surrounding the diving duo, who have shared light-hearted moments in the past. In January, Daley revealed he had knitted a “cock sock” for Williams, showcasing their playful rapport.
Daley, who now has a full set of Olympic medals, and Williams are both celebrated diving figures. Williams will compete again in the men’s solo 10m platform diving on 9 August, aiming for more success.
