The official trailer for Heartstopper season three has arrived, offering a glimpse into what’s in store for Nick and Charlie.
The trailer kicks off with Truham School students reflecting on the pressures of “sixth form, uni options,” and the sudden feeling that life is becoming overwhelming. We’ve all been there.
Season three will delve deeper into Charlie’s struggle with an eating disorder as Nick expresses his concern for his boyfriend. Elsewhere, Elle (played by Yasmin Finney) and Tao (William Gao) face the complexities of gender dysphoria during intimate moments while Charlie grapples with telling Nick that he loves him.
Fans can also expect Nick to face some big decisions regarding his university future, as he prepares to leave Truham Grammar School a year before Charlie.
The new season also introduces a host of guest stars, including Hayley Atwell (Mission Impossible) as Nick Nelson’s aunt, Darragh Hand as Michael Holden, Tori’s love interest, Jonathan Bailey as the academic celebrity Jack Maddox, and Jensen Clayden as Charlie’s cousin, Oliver.
Back in May, a teaser revealed Charlie’s anxiety over the fact that neither he nor Nick had said “I love you” yet. However, with the first episode of season three titled “Love,” it’s likely that will change soon.
Season three of Heartstopper will cover the events of Volumes 4 and 5 of Alice Oseman’s graphic novel series, with Volume 6—the final instalment—already confirmed as complete.
Recently, Yasmin Finney discussed her hopes that her scenes in this season, including her intimate moments with co-star William Gao, will help educate viewers about the experiences of being a trans woman, as she mentioned on Heartstopper: The Official Podcast.
Both Kit Connor (Nick) and Joe Locke (Charlie) have teased that this upcoming season will be “more mature” and “raunchier” than the previous two.
