A woman from the United States recently shared her unconventional love story on the show Love Don’t Judge, revealing that she lives in a throuple with her partner, James and his gay best friend, Hunter.
Sarah and James have been in a relationship for nine years, having first met in high school before reuniting after college. A year ago, their dynamic shifted when Hunter, Sarah’s gay best friend, moved in with them. Over time, Hunter developed feelings for James, while Sarah found herself falling for Hunter.
Initially, James was hesitant about the idea of a three-person relationship. However, the trio eventually embraced the arrangement and lived together as a throuple. On the show, Sarah explained, “I met James when we were teenagers, and we grew up together. But when Hunter came into our lives, everything changed.”
Hunter, who identifies as bi-romantic, expressed deep love for Sarah while clarifying his romantic and physical interest lies with men. “Living with Sarah and James has been an emotional journey. I realised I cared for Sarah deeply, and I also developed strong feelings for James,” Hunter shared.
James credited the relationship with helping him grow as a person. “You both have helped me step out of my comfort zone and become the best version of myself. This is something I never imagined, but I’m grateful for it,” he said.
The unconventional relationship has been met with mixed reactions from friends, family, and online audiences. Sarah admitted that the revelation surprised those close to her. “One of my friends thought I was joking when I told her. She was very surprised,” Sarah said on the show.
Despite the criticism, the trio remains committed to their relationship. Sarah shared, “I am very happy to know that you guys love each other and love me as much as I love you.”
Both Sarah and James now identify as bisexual, while Hunter continues to embrace his identity as a gay man with a bi-romantic perspective.
