On Saturday, 22 March, YOUR EX was proud to be on the ground at Odlin’s Plaza for Out in the City — the high-energy conclusion to Wellington Pride Festival’s fortnight of celebration, connection and love. Photos by Kiah DeRose.
From midday through to the evening, the waterfront buzzed with life as more than 80 stalls brought together the best of Pōneke’s vibrant queer community — from handmade crafts and street eats to grassroots initiatives and local creatives. Families, friends and chosen whānau filled the space, united beneath sunny skies and a sea of Pride flags.
The event’s main stage delivered a dynamic, family-friendly lineup throughout the day. Crowds were treated to live sets from rising indie stars, powerful drag performances, heartfelt singer-songwriter sets, and a moving appearance by local choral group the Glamaphones. Crowd favourites included Danica Bryant, King Markiss, Cailiah the Banshee and more — each bringing their own energy and heart to the stage.
It was a day to celebrate authenticity, community and queer joy in all its forms. Whether you were soaking up the sunshine, dancing by the stage or sharing kai with mates, Out in the City was a vibrant reminder of why Wellington Pride remains a cornerstone of Aotearoa’s queer calendar.
