TikTok sensation and comedian Benito Skinner, better known as Benny Drama, is stepping into the spotlight with his own irreverent TV comedy, Overcompensating. The bold new series, which just dropped its first trailer, promises a wild ride through college life—with a very queer, very chaotic twist.
With the tagline “College… come as you aren’t,” the show is described as a “college-set ensemble comedy about the wild, chaotic journey of Benny (Skinner), a closeted former football player and homecoming king.” Benny quickly becomes best friends with Carmen (played by Shrinking’s Wally Baram), a high school outsider determined to fit in—no matter the cost.
Their story unfolds with guidance from Benny’s older sister (played by Mary Beth Barone) and her legendary campus boyfriend (Adam DiMarco, The White Lotus), as the crew navigates horrible hookups, flavoured vodka, and fake IDs. As the series promises, it’s “deeply funny and personal,” exploring “the lengths to which we all overcompensate while on the path to finding out who we really are.”

Adding to the buzz, pop icon and brat music pioneer Charli XCX has signed on as an executive music producer, and even makes a cheeky cameo in the trailer. In the clip, she hilariously protests: “You think I fucking want to play ‘Boom Clap’ in a fucking college… Are you joking?”
