LaLa Ri, beloved for her charisma and fan-favourite status on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13 and All Stars 8, has officially announced her return to drag. After previously stepping away from the art form in late 2024, she’s now making a grand comeback, revealing that performing is what truly fills her heart with joy.
“I’m dusting the heels off and returning back to the stage,” LaLa Ri shared with Out. “After a period of rest and reflection, I realized my heart is the most full when I’m performing in drag surrounded by the love and energy of the community that has always lifted me up. I see it as a sense of revival, restoring life back into my drag and awakening it with new energy.”
Beyond personal passion, LaLa also highlighted the importance of joy in today’s political climate. “We need joy now more than ever — one thing that my drag has always brought,” she added.
Known as the ultimate “homegirl” of Drag Race, LaLa Ri captivated audiences with her unforgettable performances, lip-syncs, and meme-worthy moments (including her infamous “Bag Ball” fashion fail). Her decision to retire last year surprised fans, but it turns out the break was exactly what she needed to reignite her creative spark.
Now, she’s launching Rivival, a new series of events blending underground raves, queer nightlife, and live music into an electrifying experience. This summer, fans will get to witness LaLa Ri’s resurgence firsthand as she reclaims her place in the drag spotlight.
