On Sunday, 9 March, Western Park in Ponsonby was brimming with energy as dog lovers and the LGBTQ+ community came together for Woof! – The Auckland Rainbow Dog Show.
This vibrant event, celebrating inclusivity and four-legged flair, featured a range of fun competitions, from Best Dressed and Dog & Owner Lookalike to the flamboyant Most Camp and the tough Most Butch, culminating in the prestigious Best in Show.

Organised by Steven Oates and friends, Woof! has become a much-anticipated annual gathering, not just for its joyful atmosphere but also for its charitable cause. Entry fees and donations go towards supporting the Auckland SPCA, and this year, nearly $900 was raised—with contributions still coming in. “We are constantly blown away every year by how fun and inclusive our little event is, and we have you to thank,” Oates shared, acknowledging the incredible community support.
