Christchurch’s queer community came together in full force on Saturday, 29 March, for Utopia: An Out of This World Experience—a vibrant and inclusive Pride Party that served as the grand finale to the 2025 Christchurch Pride Festival.
Held at the multi-level Boxed Quarter on Saint Asaph Street in the heart of the central city, the event transformed the venue into a cosmic celebration of queer joy, resilience, and creativity.
Organised in collaboration with TenderButtons, Queer Horizons, Christchurch Pride, and Flux, Utopia offered a diverse and dynamic line-up of live music, DJs, and performances, attracting partygoers from across the region. The atmosphere was pulsing with energy, colour, and community spirit.

Accessibility and inclusivity remained front and centre, with the entire venue being fully accessible and ticket prices scaled to ensure the event was open to all.
As the official wrap-up to a month-long Pride Festival, which featured a wide range of events celebrating queer culture and identity throughout March, Utopia was a powerful finale that embodied the vibrancy, unity, and forward momentum of Christchurch’s LGBTQIA+ community.
