Pop icon Katy Perry thrilled fans with a surprise late-night appearance at Melbourne gay club Poof Doof, following her electrifying performance at Rod Laver Arena on Saturday night.
The crowd erupted in cheers as Perry made her way to the stage, sharing heartfelt words with her LGBTQIA+ supporters. “You guys raised me and I thank you and I love you-you are my chosen family,” she told the ecstatic audience.
But the surprises didn’t stop there. With her trademark flair, Perry announced that she was shouting the bar for an entire hour.
“And because you are my chosen family, a mother must provide for her children,” she said. “So as the provider, I would like to open the bar for one hour — the drinks are on me, baby!”
The gesture sent the crowd into a frenzy, and Perry exited the stage to the sound of her hit anthem Firework.
Currently touring Australia for her Lifetimes national tour, Perry is performing in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. Her Sydney show recently made headlines after an overexcited fan made it onstage mid-song before being swiftly escorted off by security, but not before sharing a quick dance with the crowd.
Perry’s visit to Poof Doof is already being hailed as a standout moment of her Australian tour, reinforcing her enduring connection with the LGBTQIA+ community.
