Auckland’s iconic queer club G.A.Y just got even more fabulous. On Friday 6 June, the venue officially unveiled its highly anticipated expansion—Pink Pony, a dazzling new ground-floor bar that elevates Karangahape Road’s nightlife.

Located directly above the beloved G.A.Y Auckland’s basement club, Pink Pony brings a fresh, energetic vibe to the city’s queer partygoers. The launch saw a buzzing crowd fill both levels, celebrating the arrival of a venue that’s both a stand-alone bar and a sparkling extension of G.A.Y.

The dual-level setup is made complete with a connecting staircase, allowing patrons to flow freely between the wild, pulsing chaos of the basement and the playful new party realm upstairs. The seamless transition between spaces means revellers can now choose their own vibe—or experience both in one epic night.

Hosting the month-long celebration of Pink Pony’s debut are local drag artists Crucifix June and Ruby Reveal, while on opening night, RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under winner Kita Mean – setting the tone with a fierce DJ set.
