After nearly four decades on air, The Bold and the Beautiful is making history. The CBS daytime soap — now in its 37th year — will introduce its first gay male couple this September.
According to Deadline, actor Harrison Cone has joined the cast as an aspiring designer whose name hasn’t been revealed yet. His character will be romantically linked to Remy Pryce, played by Christian Weissmann. The pair will not only mark the show’s first male same-sex relationship, but will also share the soap’s first-ever kiss between two men on screen.
Cone, who has previously appeared in Hacks and The Summer I Turned Pretty, will make his on-screen debut at Forrester Creations on September 16.
A Soap With Global Reach
The Bold and the Beautiful is the most-watched soap opera in the world, drawing an audience of over 26 million viewers. In its nearly 40-year run, the series has picked up more than 70 Daytime Emmy Awards — but LGBTQ+ male representation of this kind is arriving for the first time in 2025.
A History of Breaking Barriers
This milestone builds on the soap’s past steps toward queer visibility:
- In 2012, B&B introduced its first lesbian couple, Karen Spencer (Joanna Johnson) and Danielle (Crystal Chappell).
- In 2015, the show made headlines by featuring Maya Avant (Karla Mosley), a groundbreaking transgender character. Though the role was played by a cisgender actress, Maya became the first transgender bride in television history, a storyline that was widely praised for its impact.
With Cone and Weissmann’s storyline, The Bold and the Beautiful continues to push forward on-screen representation — this time by giving its millions of global viewers a love story between two men.
