Another day, another viral internet theory — and this one is raising more than eyebrows. Social media is buzzing with a new claim: that a certain kind of grin, dubbed the “hung smile”, might reveal more than just a guy’s confidence — it could apparently hint at his penis size.
The trend, first gaining traction on platforms like TikTok, Reddit, and X, suggests that this specific smile — a smug, subtle smirk — is a non-verbal signal that the man in question is “well-endowed.”
What Exactly Is a Hung Smile?
TikToker @stephenbrenland broke it down for viewers, claiming:
“Only a certain specific group of men can do this smile, and it’s because they’re actually ‘hung’ if you know what I mean.
It’s not a joyful grin — it’s more of a cocky, confident smirk, maybe with a flash of teeth. The corners of the mouth barely lift. It’s all about attitude.”
According to the theory, this look allegedly oozes “big d**k energy” — with people online pointing fingers (and fan tweets) at celebrities like David Corenswet, Evan Peters, and Hugh Jackman as prime examples.
What Experts Are Saying
Zachary Zane, sex and relationships columnist for Grindr, weighed in:
“A hung smile is a knowing smirk that exudes confidence — and suggests the man flashing it is well-endowed.
It’s rarely a big, teethy smile. There’s usually a subtlety, maybe even a hint of mischief, like they’re hiding something impressive in their pants.”
But Zane is quick to clarify that there’s no science backing up this theory:
“There’s absolutely no scientific correlation between someone’s smile and their penis size. This is purely a playful cultural shorthand.”
So What Can Indicate Size?
Dr Rena Malik, a urologist and popular sex education speaker, offered insight during an episode of Diary of a CEO podcast. While the smile theory might be fun, she pointed to an actual scientific study — albeit a limited one.
“There’s one study — a Japanese study with only Japanese men — that looked at different body part measurements and found nose length had a correlation with penile length.
Not hand size. Not foot size. Just the nose.”
She added that around 45% of heterosexual men are unhappy with how their penis looks, despite there being no medically agreed “ideal” length.
Hung Smile or Hype?
Online reactions are split between humour and thirst. One fan wrote:
“Hung smile whew, I’m weak in the knees.”
Another added:
“When David [Corenswet] smiles like that >>>>>>>>”
While it’s clear people are enjoying the trend, there’s also acknowledgment that — like most viral theories — it’s all in good fun.
