One of New Zealand’s most established immigration advisory firms, well known for its support of Aotearoa’s LGBTQ+ community, has rebranded, entering a new era as New Zealand Immigration Partners (NZIP).
Formerly known as Malcolm Pacific Immigration, the company has helped over 100,000 clients (including many from the LGBTQ+ community) over more than 40 years, making it one of the country’s longest-running names in the sector. The rebrand reflects what the firm describes as a broader national presence and a renewed focus on a “people-first” identity — a phrase that now anchors much of its messaging.
While the name has changed, the company says its team, services, and values remain consistent, positioning the rebrand as an evolution rather than a reinvention.
A New Name for a New Era
The shift to New Zealand Immigration Partners comes at a time of ongoing global movement, labour shortages, and rising interest in New Zealand as a destination for work, family migration, and study.
The firm’s new logo — a layered, rising icon — is intended to symbolise partnership, shared direction, and movement, according to the directors. It coincides with updates to the firm’s website nzimmigrationpartners.com, and changes to staff email addresses. Redirects are already in place to ensure continuity during the transition.
“This isn’t just a name change — it’s a statement of intent,” said CEO and Director David Cooper, a well-known figure in New Zealand’s immigration sector.
“It’s about reflecting who we are now, and where we’re heading as a business that has always put people at the centre.”

An Industry Leader Adapting with the Times
Founded in the 1980s, Malcolm Pacific Immigration built a strong reputation for providing licensed, personalised immigration advice — with clients ranging from families to corporates, international students to skilled migrants.
By rebranding to New Zealand Immigration Partners, the company signals its ongoing relevance in a rapidly evolving policy landscape, where immigration rules and public sentiment can shift overnight.
The move also aligns with increased public demand for transparency, ethical standards, and accessibility in the immigration advice sector — themes the company says it has prioritised throughout its four-decade history.
“The core of what we do hasn’t changed,” added Daniel Thomson, Director of Client Services. “But the name now better represents our national reach and collaborative approach.”
A Milestone Celebration
The rebrand was timed to coincide with the firm’s 40-year anniversary, which was celebrated last week with staff and clients at an event in Auckland. Photos shared from the evening showcased a team looking both back at its legacy and forward to the future.
Alongside the new branding, the company is continuing to offer its popular free 3-step visa assessment, which includes a preliminary eligibility check, contact with a licensed adviser, and a no-obligation quote.
Looking Ahead
While the immigration sector in New Zealand remains tightly regulated, firms like NZIP continue to play a critical role in bridging the gap between government systems and individuals navigating complex migration pathways.
As the demand for ethical, licensed advice grows — particularly among those dealing with family reunification, work visas, partnership visas, and employer-assisted applications — NZIP’s rebrand may help sharpen its visibility in an increasingly competitive landscape.
More than just a cosmetic update, the new identity reflects the shifting nature of immigration itself — a human-centred journey in a world that rarely stands still.
