Jeffree Star Under Fire for “Transphobic” Remarks on Podcast During Trans Awareness Week

Controversial beauty mogul Jeffree Star is once again under fire after making what many are calling “transphobic” comments during a recent podcast appearance.

Star, who previously doubled down in 2023 on his belief that non-binary identities are “made up”, reignited backlash after appearing on The Skinny Confidential: Him & Her Show during Trans Awareness Week (13–19 November). In the episode, he made a series of negative and inflammatory remarks about transgender people.

“Why are we encouraging our kids to be a different gender and feed them false information when they’re so young?

“When I grew up and started looking different, my mother encouraged me to just be myself,” he said.

He went on to add: “When I started wearing makeup and being more feminine and wanting to do certain things… it wasn’t like, ‘Oh my God, Jeffree needs, what do they call it now, gender-affirming care?’ It’s like when you’re a tomboy. Did your mom… did she cut your tits off at 13?

“Nowadays, it’s all these f*****g weirdos telling their kids, ‘OMG you like a Barbie? You’re a woman!’”

Online Responses: “We should not be listening to that man”

Clips circulating online quickly drew criticism, with one viewer commenting: “I’m sorry, but we should not be listening to that man.”

Another noted: “He’s criticized transgenderism a ton of times before and has been doing so for years so this shouldn’t really be surprising.”

Others questioned why Star continues to receive platforms, with one user writing: “Why do you give this guy a platform?”

During the interview, Star also stated he is “not gay”, but “just open and very me,” before suggesting that the T and Q should be removed from LGBTQ.

The controversy follows earlier backlash over Star’s defence of right‑wing activist Charlie Kirk. In a TikTok Live video in September 2025, Star claimed that Kirk “encouraged everyone to speak about their beliefs, whether he believed them or not.” When asked whether he identified as a Republican, he replied: “No, I’m a person. Because I’m standing up for someone who passed away, I’m now being called names in the chat.”

Kirk, who was fatally shot at a speaking event in Utah, was widely known for his extreme anti‑LGBTQ+ rhetoric. He regularly described trans people as a “throbbing middle finger to God,” labelled LGBTQ+ communities an “agenda” and “groomers”, and used slurs against trans people. He also called being gay a “lifestyle” and openly advocated violence against trans individuals.

Following Star’s latest comments, social media users resurfaced past controversies from his early online career, where he filmed himself making racist remarks.
