Fans of HBO’s Euphoria have finally been given a first glimpse of season three, with the long-awaited series now confirmed for release in April 2026.
It’s been over six years since the critically acclaimed — and often controversial — drama first hit screens in 2019, and four years since season two aired in 2022. Now, after several setbacks, the countdown to season three is officially on.
Euphoria is finally back
The series made headlines from the start for its raw portrayal of Gen Z life, complete with sex, drugs, trauma, and refreshingly authentic queer and trans representation. Even before its premiere, Euphoria was drawing attention — and criticism — from parent groups concerned about its “disturbing” content.
Despite the backlash, the show became a breakout success. But production hasn’t been smooth sailing. After COVID-19 delayed season two, it finally returned with eight gripping episodes in 2022. A third season was quickly greenlit, but further delays followed.
Production, originally slated to begin in 2023, was stalled by the Hollywood labour strikes, followed by the tragic death of star Angus Cloud, and later, executive producer Kevin Turen. Filming eventually resumed across 2025 and officially wrapped in November.
HBO confirmed the new release date as part of its 2026 lineup announcement, which also includes House of the Dragon, The Comeback, and other returning favourites.
What we know so far
While the new teaser trailer doesn’t reveal much in terms of plot, it confirms the return of fan favourites Zendaya (Rue), Hunter Schafer (Jules) and Jacob Elordi (Nate) — the latter appearing shirtless, of course.
Crucially, it also confirms that the characters are now post-high school, aged up in line with the time gap between seasons. Zendaya’s voiceover sets the tone:
“A few years after high school, I don’t know if life was exactly what I wished.”
The teaser then flashes through a series of quick, dramatic snippets from the upcoming season, hinting at new storylines, tension, and emotional upheaval.
Season two left fans with plenty of cliffhangers: a shocking death, Nate’s father arrested, and the emotional end of Rue and Jules’ relationship. Season three looks set to explore the fallout.
Fans react to the teaser
The official promo shared by HBO on Instagram racked up nearly one million likes within 24 hours, with fans expressing sheer excitement about the return of the beloved series.
With a stellar cast, mature themes, and time-jump narrative, Euphoria season three is shaping up to be worth the wait.
