Just when we thought Wicked had given us everything, a newly released deleted scene featuring Jonathan Bailey and Ethan Slater—shirtless and flexing in the forest—has sent fans into a frenzy.
The “lost scene,” unveiled by Entertainment Tonight over the weekend, is a two-minute bonus clip that shows the evolving bond between the film’s five lead characters… but it’s the shirtless surprise that’s really stolen the spotlight.
The Scene We Didn’t Know We Needed
Despite Wicked earning over $1 billion at the box office, and stars like Jonathan Bailey (who was crowned People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2025) and Ariana Grande dominating headlines, it turns out fans weren’t quite ready to say goodbye.
The clip—set after the musical number Popular—features Fiyero (Bailey), Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), Glinda (Ariana Grande), Boq (Slater), and Nessa (Marissa Bode) heading into the forest for a carefree picnic.
Scored by a light reprisal of Dancing Through Life, the group are seen enjoying time away from Shiz University, until Fiyero ups the ante.
In a very casual display of masculinity, Fiyero rips off his shirt before chopping wood, showing off his sculpted physique. Not to be outdone, Boq follows suit, tearing off his own shirt and revealing an equally ripped frame—much to the amusement (and awe) of the witches.
While little more unfolds plot-wise, the scene ends with the five basking in the sun together. Still, it’s more than enough to send fans spiralling.
From Whisper to Viral: The Clip Fans Knew Existed
Whispers of the clip have circulated for months, especially after Bowen Yang, who plays Pfannee, teased its existence during a podcast with Trisha Paytas.
Now that it’s been officially released, fans on X (formerly Twitter) have responded in typical fashion: with memes, thirst tweets, and demands that it be added to the extended cut.
“We Were Robbed” – Fans React
Online reactions have ranged from playful outrage to adoration.
“I waited two years for Wicked and THIS is what they left on the cutting room floor?!”
“Boq being jacked is the plot twist of the year.”
While the main purpose of the scene was to show deepening friendships, it’s clear audiences are focused on… other aspects.
More Wicked Content? Yes, Please.
Given the massive success of the film and the anticipation for Part Two, fans are hoping this won’t be the last time a deleted scene drops online.
Until then, they’ll be rewatching this surprise forest scene—probably on loop.
