Fans of Heated Rivalry, the LGBTQ+ sports drama that’s taken the world by storm, have reason to get excited. Lead actor Connor Storrie has dropped a promising update on season two.
Based on Rachel Reid’s Game Changers novels, the acclaimed series centres on the simmering romantic tension between ice hockey rivals Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) and Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams). Since its premiere, the show has won global praise for its sharp writing, compelling character arcs, and emotionally resonant romance.
Appearing on NBC’s Today show on Wednesday, 14 January, Storrie was asked about the timeline for season two’s production. “I think Jacob [Tierney, the showrunner] is still writing it,” the 25-year-old shared. “I think we’re going to be filming, I think, soon, I don’t know when exactly.”
When pressed on whether filming might take place during the summer, Storrie responded: “Yeah, I think about then.”
While far from a concrete production date, the update gives fans something to hold onto, especially after season two was officially greenlit in December 2025.
Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, whose electric on-screen chemistry helped propel the series to success, have both seen their fame soar thanks to the show’s breakout popularity. The duo have been busy with press tours, fan events, and red carpet appearances since the series launched.
Previously, showrunner Jacob Tierney had shared his thoughts on season two during an interview with Variety, explaining that the writing process was still in early stages. “It can’t be [the] same time next year, because this time last year I’d written five of these [episodes], and this time this year I’ve written zero of them,” he said in December.
Tierney made it clear he’s committed to maintaining the quality that made Heated Rivalry such a hit. “I don’t want to put out a rushed s***** second season just because the show is very popular.”
While production is tentatively eyed for mid-2026, post-production will likely take several months, pushing the potential release window to spring or summer 2027 at the earliest.
So, while a return to the ice for Ilya and Shane isn’t imminent, fans can rest assured: season two is on the way — and it’s in good hands.
