Bad Bunny’s Halftime Performance Drives Massive Surge in Pornhub Searches

New data released by Pornhub shows a dramatic spike in football-themed searches following Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 8.

According to the platform, interest in football-related fantasy categories surged immediately after the performance, alongside increased searches connected to Latino identity — reflecting the global star’s influence and cultural impact.

Searches for the term “Super Bowl” jumped by an extraordinary 5,632% compared with the previous month.

Football-themed search terms also saw major increases, including:

  • “Jock” – up 4,244%

  • “Horny college jock” – up 2,939%

  • “Big college jocks” – up 958%

The data highlights how major sporting events — especially those with high-profile halftime shows — often influence online trends far beyond the game itself.

Latino Representation Drives Search Trends

Bad Bunny’s performance prominently celebrated his Puerto Rican heritage, and Pornhub reported that searches related to Latino performers also climbed significantly.

Among the biggest increases:

  • “Amateur Latino” – up 880%

  • “Latina solo dirty talk” – up 479%

  • “Tattooed Latino male” – up 470%

The surge suggests that cultural visibility during globally watched events like the Super Bowl can have measurable ripple effects across digital platforms.

Political Backlash Emerges

The halftime show also sparked controversy among some conservative figures. U.S. Representative Andy Ogles criticised the performance in a Facebook post.

“Last night’s halftime show was a disgrace, and it mocked American families,” Ogles wrote.
“Depicting gay pornography on prime time has no place in our culture. The Bad Bunny performance is conclusive proof that Puerto Rico should never be a state.”

His comments drew backlash online, with many supporters of Bad Bunny praising the performance’s celebration of identity, culture, and representation.

The data underscores the cultural reach of the Super Bowl halftime show, and how artists like Bad Bunny can influence not just music and fashion, but broader digital behaviour and conversations worldwide.
