Following the breakout success of Heated Rivalry, a new hockey romance series is stepping onto the ice — but this time, the love story is straight.
Off Campus, an upcoming series from Amazon Prime Video, is based on Off-Campus series by Elle Kennedy. Since debuting in 2015, the books have sold more than three million copies and built a loyal following, particularly on BookTok.
While comparisons to Heated Rivalry are inevitable, the two projects were developed independently. And although Off Campus doesn’t centre queer storylines, it’s already gaining traction online thanks to its devoted fanbase — and plenty of buzz around its cast and trailer.
What Is the Book Series About?
The Off-Campus series is made up of five interconnected standalone novels set at the fictional Briar University. Each story follows a college hockey player navigating love, relationships and personal growth.
The books — The Deal, The Mistake, The Score, The Goal, and The Legacy — lean into classic romance tropes like fake dating, friends-to-lovers, love triangles and forced proximity. While each novel focuses on a different couple, characters frequently overlap, creating a shared universe that continues across spin-offs.
What Is Season 1 About?
Much like Bridgerton, each season of Off Campus will adapt a different book.
Season one is based on The Deal and follows Hannah Wells, a music student with a crush on a college rock singer. To get his attention, she strikes a deal with hockey star Garrett Graham: she’ll tutor him, and he’ll pretend to be her boyfriend.
Naturally, the arrangement leads to real feelings — and plenty of romantic tension along the way.

Why Is It Already Going Viral?
The first trailer, released on 19 March 2026, quickly took off online — fuelled by the popularity of the books and a wave of social media reactions.
