Heated Rivalry Star Linked to Billie Eilish’s Film Debut In Now Deleted Post

An enthusiastic social media post appears to have accidentally revealed that Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie will feature alongside Billie Eilish in the singer’s upcoming film debut.

Ontario’s Parkwood National Historic Site seemingly let the casting news slip after sharing details about filming for the new screen adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s semi-autobiographical novel The Bell Jar.

According to the now-deleted post, Storrie visited the historic location to film scenes for the Sarah Polley-directed production, in which Eilish is set to play the lead role.

Eilish’s casting in the highly anticipated adaptation was announced in March. Storrie’s involvement, however, has not been officially confirmed by the film’s producers.

The museum’s official Instagram account posted a photograph of a bouquet alongside a caption announcing the completion of filming at the site.

“That’s camera wrap on Parkwood’s role in the Sarah Polley directed film, The Bell Jar, starring Billie Eilish in her cinematic debut, along with Connor Storrie.

“Thank you to the cast and crew for another wonderful film experience and we wish you all the best of luck with the rest of your shoot.”

The post was later removed from Instagram.

No one associated with the production, including its United States production company Focus Features, has publicly commented on the apparent casting revelation.

Billie Eilish confirmed for The Bell Jar lead role

The Bell Jar, Plath’s only novel, follows a young female writer struggling with mental illness during the 1950s.

The novel was published shortly before Plath died by suicide in 1963, aged 30. It has since become one of the author’s most celebrated works and has regularly appeared on lists of the greatest novels ever published.

The forthcoming adaptation will mark Eilish’s first major film role.

Although she has yet to make her cinematic acting debut, the singer-songwriter is already a two-time Academy Award winner. She received Best Original Song Oscars for her contributions to the soundtracks of No Time to Die and Barbie.

The project will also mark Sarah Polley’s first film since her 2022 ensemble drama Women Talking. Polley won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film.

Storrie’s participation in The Bell Jar remains unconfirmed, but the actor has reportedly attracted a growing number of opportunities since Heated Rivalry propelled him to international attention.

The Canadian production was not eligible for the Emmy Awards and therefore did not appear among this week’s nominations.

Storrie nevertheless received recognition in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category following his appearance as host of Saturday Night Live in February.

Unless the filmmakers make an official announcement, the deleted museum post remains the strongest indication that Storrie may be joining Eilish in the anticipated literary adaptation.
