Kit Connor Teases ‘Steamy’ Scene as Alice Oseman Confirms Heartstopper Film Twist

With Netflix’s beloved series Heartstopper heading towards its highly anticipated conclusion, fans are eager to see how Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke) will close out their love story on the big screen. Now, some new hints have dropped about what to expect from the upcoming Heartstopper movie.

In a VMan magazine cover story featuring actor Louis Partridge, Connor — who was interviewed by Partridge — teased a particularly memorable moment from filming.

“I was doing rugby training today,” Connor shared. “[I’m always doing] some kind of throwing myself on the ground. We shot quite a steamy scene yesterday. So again, throwing myself on the ground in a different way.”

The tease comes as fans have already caught glimpses of the cast shooting around London. But according to author Alice Oseman, who wrote the original Heartstopper graphic novels, the film won’t stick entirely to the books.

Speaking at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Oseman explained that while the story is largely based on Volume Six (set to be released later this year) and the Nick and Charlie novella, the film will take a slightly different direction.

“We’ve just finished shooting the movie; it is based on volume six,” Oseman confirmed. “It’s also based on the Nick and Charlie novella.”

Volume Six follows Nick and Charlie navigating their final year of high school as Nick prepares to leave for college — a moment of transition that tests their relationship.

But Oseman revealed the film will forge its own path:

“Well, in the film, I have found a different way to approach this problem, and so there is a point in the movie where we slightly diverge from the events of volume six, and it takes a slightly different path to get to the ending.”

They added:

“Which I find really fun and exciting. So, even once you read volume six, there will still be quite a few surprises in the movie waiting for you.”
