“No Drama, No Tea”: Connor Franta Finally Opens Up About Long-Rumoured Troye Sivan Relationship

After years of speculation, Connor Franta has finally addressed his long-rumoured relationship with pop star Troye Sivan in a new YouTube video — sending “Tronnor” fans into a frenzy.

Uploaded on Sunday, the 32-year-old YouTuber confirmed that he and Sivan dated for two years during the height of their YouTube fame in the mid-2010s, and shared new insight into their breakup and where they stand today.

“What in the 2014 is going on?”

Franta began the video with a laugh:

“What in the 2014 is going on? I’m just as baffled as all of you… People still care, not only about me, but about a relationship I had for two years.”

While Franta never explicitly named Sivan, it was clear who he was referring to. He smiled as he reassured fans there’s “no drama, no tea” between them.

Back in 2014, the pair frequently appeared in each other’s videos, fuelling fan speculation about their romance. Their closeness slowly faded, and in 2018 Sivan released “The Good Side,” a track widely believed to be about their breakup. The rumours reignited in 2024 when an old photo resurfaced of the duo with singer Chappell Roan, who became unintentionally caught in the renewed fan frenzy.

On “The Good Side”

Franta offered his take on Sivan’s song:

“The horrible thing about that song is that he was right, but he was also completely wrong. I think he got the good side of things emotionally, but a song like that neglects the idea that people are individuals and everyone chooses their own path in life.”

He revealed that they reconnected much later, meeting at an event after years without speaking:

“I felt he was the boogeyman to me… but when you finally confront someone, it’s never as scary as you’ve built it up to be.”

No bad blood

Franta also said he harbours no resentment toward anyone from the 2014 YouTube era, though he cheekily noted that “the jury may still be out on Daniel Preda.” He apologised to Roan for being “dragged into this twink issue unwarranted” and praised her talent.

He ended on a heartfelt note aimed directly at Sivan:

“If you happen to be watching this, I just want to let you know that I’m proud of you, too. For every single thing that you’ve done.”

For longtime fans, the closing words echoed two of Sivan’s songs — “For Him” from his debut Blue Neighbourhood, which was dedicated to his boyfriend at the time, and “The Good Side,” in which Sivan sang: “I’ll say I’m proud of all that you’ve done.”
