Bad Bunny Skipped U.S. Tour Stops Over ICE Fears — Now He’s Performing at the Super Bowl

A senior adviser at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has confirmed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents will be present at the 2026 Super Bowl, where Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny is set to perform during the Halftime Show.

Corey Lewandowski, who serves as an adviser within DHS, made the comments during a Wednesday appearance on The Benny Show, stressing that immigration enforcement will remain a high priority—even at major cultural events like the Super Bowl.

“There is nowhere that you can provide safe haven to people in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else,” Lewandowski said.

“We will find you. We will apprehend you. We will put you in a detention facility, and we will deport you. So know that that is a very real situation under this administration, which is completely contrary to… how it used to be.”

Lewandowski also criticised the NFL’s choice of Halftime Show headliner.

“It’s so shameful that they’ve decided to pick somebody who just seems to hate America so much to represent them at the Halftime Game,” he added. “I was at the Super Bowl last year with President Trump. I had the chance to be in Louisiana in his box and watch the game, and got to enjoy that.”

For context, Bad Bunny—real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio—was born in Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory. As such, he is an American citizen. The Grammy-winning artist is known for singing in Spanish and has a vast Latine fanbase worldwide.

In a recent interview with i-D Magazine, Bad Bunny revealed one reason he skipped adding U.S. tour dates to his Debí Tirar Más Fotos world tour: fear that ICE might target his concertgoers.

“There was the issue of — like, fucking ICE could be outside [my concerts],” he said. “And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

Despite avoiding the U.S. mainland on his tour, Bad Bunny is visiting 19 countries and recently completed a record-breaking residency in Puerto Rico. That residency reportedly contributed $400 million to the island’s economy.

During his podcast appearance, Lewandowski made it clear that immigration enforcement will continue under this administration in all settings.

“We are going to make Americans safe,” he said. “That is a directive from the president. If you’re in this country illegally, do yourself a favour: Go home.”

The 2026 Super Bowl is scheduled for 8 February 2026 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
