The Epstein files are once again dominating international headlines this week, as the United States courts officially handed the decision to release them over to President Donald Trump.
While the public waits for the formal publication of documents from the investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the internet is already flooded with leaks, theories, and — in true online fashion — some rather bizarre rumours.
Does RuPaul Really Appear in the Epstein Files?
One of the more unexpected viral claims to surface this week is the supposed appearance of RuPaul’s name in the Epstein files. To be clear: there is absolutely no suggestion that RuPaul, the globally beloved drag superstar and Drag Race creator, has any connection to the Epstein investigation — a fact that’s been met with relief (and some amusement) from fans.
Instead, the alleged reference seems to stem from something far more innocent… and oddly hilarious.
From Court Docs to iTunes Playlists?
The rumour appears to have started on Reddit — naturally — where a post in the r/rupaulsdragrace subreddit titled “Apparently, RuPaul’s Drag Race is referenced in the Epstein Files” was quickly screenshotted and shared across Twitter. One post read simply: “Why is RuPaul literally in the Epstein files?”
Attached were grainy screenshots of documents purporting to be excerpts from the Epstein case files. The documents, which remain unverified and largely unreadable, have nonetheless gone viral.
So, why is RuPaul (supposedly) mentioned?
The documents allegedly include references to viewing habits on Epstein’s private Caribbean island — the same location at the centre of numerous allegations involving sexual abuse and human trafficking. Among the supposed TV content viewed by guests on the island: RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars, specifically seasons four and ten — although some online sleuths insist it was season two. Also on the alleged watchlist: Ryan Murphy’s acclaimed LGBTQIA+ drama Pose.
Fans React: “We’re in the Weirdest Timeline”
Reactions online have ranged from disbelief to outright laughter at the absurdity of it all.
“Looks like an iTunes library export. It references All Stars Season 4 and Season 10. Monet, this is WILD lmao,” one Reddit user wrote.
Others joked about the scene, imagining political figures caught up in scandal watching drag lip-sync battles in the background:
“The concept of Trump blowing Bubba while the TV in the background was showing Naomi revealing Manila’s lipstick…”
Another user added:
“We are truly in the weirdest timeline.”
From quotes like “I wonder what they thought about Katya’s iconic verse” to “That’s a rash not a herpes sore,” the comments veered from meme-worthy to full-on surreal.
“RuPaul being in the Epstein files was not something I’d ever thought I’d read. I’m dying,” summed up one post.
Files May Be Released Soon
The timing of the rumour coincides with significant political momentum in the United States. Both chambers of Congress have now backed legislation that would compel the public release of the Epstein investigation documents. The bill is now awaiting approval by President Donald Trump.
Until then, speculation will likely continue — including the strange, surreal, and completely internet-driven inclusion of drag race discourse in one of the most serious and scrutinised legal sagas of the decade.
