About

If you’re looking for a truly wild experience, make your way to Ōtepoti | Dunedin—the Wildlife Capital of New Zealand!

Ike & Jerad invite you to get up close to Southern Ocean wildlife with Monarch Wildlife Cruises & Tours. For over 40-years guests have enjoyed unrivalled access to the wildest areas and protected locations on the Otago Peninsula and the Otago Harbour. Choose from a curated range of land and sea experiences. During your trip, you might spot royal albatross, penguins, sea lions, fur seals, Hector's dolphins and more. Our bus tours connect with other highlights of the peninsula, combining our special Wildlife Cruises with guided visits to The OPERA, Larnach Castle, and the Royal Albatross Centre. Many tour options include pickup and return to central city hotels.

Come aboard our heritage vessel, The Monarch (the company’s namesake) as we cruise the harbour with up to 45 guests enjoying covered, indoor, and open-air viewing areas. Or for a more discerning experience, ask about private tours and charters on our smaller vessel the Vivianne J which comfortably accommodates up to 15 passengers. Food and beverage packages can be combined to create unique experiences and incredible memories with friends and loved ones.

Visit www.wildlife.co.nz for more information.

Continue your unique wildlife viewing opportunities through our sister operation, The OPERA—Otago Peninsula Eco Restoration Alliance, a private eco-reserve where you can experience conservation, rehabilitation, restoration, and education in action. MORE INFO HERE

We also encourage you to consider how you can help us protect and preserve the unique flora, fauna, and ecosystems in New Zealand through the Otago Shore & Land Trust, which supports our conservation, rehabilitation, restoration and education mahi. Visit www.otagoshoreandland.org to see how you can get involved. Among the projects being undertaken by the trust is supporting the ecological restoration from paddocks back to native forest and grasslands, as well as the rewilding of 250+ hectares (850 acres) on the Otago Peninsula where The OPERA operates.
