Fan-favourite gay teen drama Heartstopper is coming to a close, but not before viewers get one final chapter with Nick and Charlie.
Netflix has released first-look images from the upcoming film Heartstopper Forever, which will serve as the feature-length farewell to the beloved series and its central couple, played by Kit Connor and Joe Locke.
The streamer shared four images from the movie, which will premiere on 17 July 2026.
The photos include Nick at a restaurant and Charlie standing in front of a school bulletin board, but it is the shots of the pair together that have fans spiralling.
One image shows Nick and Charlie back in their school uniforms in the halls of their high school, while another captures them dancing together and looking blissfully happy.
A final farewell
The feature-length conclusion is written by Heartstopper creator and author Alice Oseman.
Connor and Locke are also serving as executive producers on the film.
“These characters have meant a lot to us over the years,” Connor told Netflix’s TUDUM. “As EPs, it feels like we can really say goodbye to them in a way that feels the most right. It is bittersweet, but it is also a really nice way of ending it.”
Locke agreed, saying: “This show has meant so much to me in my life. I’ll always carry that with me.”

Can first love last forever?
The movie will follow Nick as he prepares to leave for university, while Charlie struggles to finish school and work out who he is without his popular boyfriend by his side.
Their relationship will be tested as they try to navigate long distance.
“Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on. Can first loves really last forever?” the official synopsis reads.
Fans are already emotional about the end of the series, flooding the Heartstopper Instagram account with excited and heartfelt comments after the first-look images were released.
“My babies look so grown and so IN LOVE,” one person wrote.
“I am so torn every time, because I can’t wait to see the movie, but I wish it weren’t the end of us getting to peer in on Nick & Charlie’s continuing story,” another fan said.
“THIS IS GONNA BE THE BEST SUMMER OF OUR LIVES,” someone else commented.
Heartstopper Forever is set to premiere on Netflix on 17 July 2026.
