Pornhub has marked Pride Month by revealing new data on what, and who, users are searching for when watching gay adult content — and some of the results may surprise.
First reported by OUT, the new report shows that “femboy” was the most-searched term this month by a wide margin. In second place was “twink”, a term that has long been one of the most popular gay adult search terms worldwide.
However, “twink” was recently dethroned as the most popular search term among users in the United States, with “Black” continuing to grow in popularity globally and taking the top spot in the country this time last year.
The Pride Month data also revealed that almost half of all viewers of gay adult content are women.
According to the report, the audience for gay adult content is made up of 50.7 per cent male viewers and 49.7 per cent female viewers.
That marks an increase from last year, when women made up 47 per cent of gay adult viewership.
Pornhub also found that most users of the adult video site are aged between 18 and 24, with that demographic showing a particularly strong interest in cartoon content.
Tyler Wu tops performer searches
The list of most-searched gay adult performers also saw a shake-up this Pride Month.
Tyler Wu took the top spot, replacing Malik Delgaty, who had previously led the rankings.
Delgaty still placed second, while Ethan Lestray, Legrand Wolf and Falcon Al rounded out the top five.
Several names that featured last year, including Joey Mills, Foxy Alex and Rhyheim Shabazz, did not make this year’s list.
The report also highlighted viewing habits across the United States.
According to Pornhub, Rhode Island and Maryland use the site the most, while the District of Columbia received a special mention for watching 35 per cent more content than the national average.
The data offers a revealing snapshot of how gay adult viewing habits are changing, from shifting performer rankings to the growing number of women watching queer erotic content.
