Description
As part of our development programme to support new work, we spotlight two promising young Māori playwrights with a pair of play readings directed by Jason Te Kare.
Set at a tangi over 24 hours, Marmite & Honey brings feuds, secrets and battles to the fore, as a dysfunctional family come together to farewell one of their own and reflect on how to deal with grief and loss.
Rainton Oneroa (Te Aupōuri) is an actor, musician and playwright. He is a graduate of The Actors Programme (2023). In 2021 he released his first EP, A Diary That Just Happens to Rhyme, exploring his identity as a Māori artist. Marmite & Honey is his first play.
