The Concert Chamber in Auckland’s town-hall turns into a cabaret chamber of European sophistication/proportions as the inaugural Auckland International Cabaret Festival takes place from June 4th – 8th. Bringing together seven of the world cabaret circuit’s brightest stars.

Not one but two performances from Australia performer Michael Griffiths, as he pays homage to a duo of furious pop divas from the eighties – both influential yet both so very different in their own rights. Not content with performing in touring productions of Jersey Boys, Griffiths has painstakingly worked in his spare time on both In Vogue and Sweet Dreams – performing the works of Madonna and Annie Lennox.
But these aren’t simple bad cover versions – Michael is Madonna and Annie Lennox. No costumes, no wigs and no accents; just “Madge” and Annie accompanying themselves at the piano on two journeys through the tough and tender songs both have become renowned for.
