express got in touch with Louisa Wall to ask her opinion on Michael Hootman’s article Can the LGB’s Really Understand the Ts?

The initials LGBTIQ are intended to emphasize the diversity of sex, sexual orientation and gender identity and is sometimes used to refer to anyone who is non-heterosexual or non-cisgender instead of exclusively to people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex or queer or questioning.

What this opinion piece ignores is the collective experience of suffering discrimination and inequality based on some cultural, religious and societal definitions of what constitutes acceptable sex, sexual orientation or gender identity.
