Christchurch’s HLR30 Pride committee have today announced a Fairy Tale Gala Dinner and Dance to celebrate the thirty-year anniversary of the passing of the Homosexual Law Reform bill in New Zealand on Friday 29 July 2016.

HLR30 Pride committee is a joint effort from Christchurch Pride, Pink Health Otautahi, UpRising Trust, Q-topia, New Zealand AIDS Foundation, Q-Canterbury, TraNZaction and Kindred formed for the purpose of commemorating the 30 year anniversary of the Homosexual Law Reform in Christchurch.

The event will be held at the Rydges Hotel on Latimer Square with special guests and presentations to honour and remember those who campaigned thirty years ago to help pass the reform into law. Organiser Aaron Comis has confirmed that Bill Logan will be the keynote speaker alongside many other special guests.

A complimentary glass of bubbles will await dinner-goers as they arrive for their two course meal with tickets currently selling at $95 pp until 20 July, and after this date they will increased to $145 pp. No door sales will be available for the dinner portion of the evening on the night. The dinner will be served from 6 to 9pm.

Included in this ticket price is entry into the dance portion of the evening, and Comis says that they are also offering tickets to just this part of the event at a affordable $20pp to ensure that everyone will be able to attend. “It’s important that young people who can’t afford the $95 for dinner can still come and dance. It’s all about community.” The dance will continue through to 3am and is an R18 event.

Comis says that they are expecting over a hundred attendees for the dinner, and over three hundred for the dance.
