The Rainbow New Zealand Charitable Trust, which raises money and distributes it back to the Queer community across Aotearoa, is holding its annual fundraiser at Phoenix Cabaret on K Road.

The GiveOUT Gala happening on Wednesday, 19 October, is the launch event for GiveOUT Day, happening Thursday, 20 October, an online event where people can choose a rainbow charity to donate directly to, with cooperative sponsorship matching donations dollar for dollar!

Twelve charities have already signed up, representing a broad cross-section of Aotearoa’s Queer communities, and premier sponsors include Southern Cross and Kiwi Bank.

An exciting addition to the line-up is Pride Cook Islands. The Trust has, up until now, only funded NZ-based Queer students/organisations.

“Homosexuality remains illegal in the Cook’s and Cook Islands Pride is at the coal face of activism in the pacific. The Government over there has been making noises about overturning this archaic law recently, but so far, it’s just talk”, Chair Gresham Bradley tells express.
