Organisers of Pride in the Square have cancelled tonight’s (Friday, 24 Feb) programming due to severe weather.
Auckland Live and Auckland Pride announced the cancellation of the Friday programme to ensure the safety of the community following forecasted severe weather expected to hit the city.
“We are working with our artists to see how much of tonight’s programme we can fit into tomorrow’s full day of Pride in the Square, with the confidence that will go ahead based on current weather forecasts. We will keep you updated with additions to tomorrow’s programme,” organisers explained in a press release.
“We are so gutted that we couldn’t party the night away with you tonight, but there are phenomenal shows and events scheduled for this evening indoors – so go and enjoy those instead! We can’t wait to see you tomorrow for a fun-filled day of Pride in the Square.”
The two-day free event in Aotea Square is still scheduled to continue on Saturday with performances from DJs, drag artists and musicians from across the Aotearoa.
