GiveOUT Day is four days of national fundraising, awareness, and giving to LGBTQ+ community groups, not-for-profit organisations, events, and projects.

Last year was the inaugural GiveOUT Day held in New Zealand, and the hugely successful event raised nearly $60,000 for the 13 rainbow organisations that participated. Organisers The Rainbow NZ Charitable Trust will launch GiveOUT Day 2023 on Friday 8 September at the fabulous GALA Launch Event at Phoenix Cabaret, which will be live-streamed nationwide.

GiveOUT Day is all about individuals being able to go online and choose which amazing rainbow organisations from around Aotearoa they would like to support by donating directly to them.

Donations made on GiveOUT Day and the four days that follow will be doubled by GiveOUT Day’s corporate sponsors through the Matching Funding Pool. To date, the Trust has confirmed $43,000 in Matching Funding and is expecting that to grow before GiveOUT Day itself. This means that donations will grow to at least $86,000 for our participating rainbow organisations.

Sponsors include: Kiwibank, ISS, PWC, Southern Cross Health Society, Z Energy, Aurecon, and the Newmarket Business Association.

This year, the Trust is opening up invitations to all known rainbow organisations around the country to participate in GiveOUT Day 2023. Around 50 rainbow organisations have already been approached to participate.

The funds raised go to organisations working directly on LGBTQ+ issues, such as Pride groups, physical and mental health support, community events, and advocacy for rainbow people. GiveOUT Day works to increase the capacity of the LGBTQ+ sector and give rainbow organisations the opportunity to build awareness of their causes and the services they offer.
