Say Aloha To Honolulu Pride 2023!

Last month, the sunny shores and turquoise waters of Honolulu had more than a touch of rainbow. Honolulu Pride was graced with the presence of royalty for that year’s Pride celebrations.

Former Miss Continental, RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 winner, and trans icon, Sasha Colby, led this year’s Honolulu Pride Parade as the grand marshal, a fitting role for the native Hawai’ian queen.

Honolulu Pride celebrated and honoured Hawai’i’s Rainbow communities. The festivities were filled with fabulous parties, colourful performances, and buckets of sun, surf, and splendour!

Kicking off the festivities was gay singer-songwriter and YouTube sensation, Sam Tsui, who took to the stage for the Opening Night Reception on Friday 20 October. Then, everyone’s favourite green queen, Laganja Estranja, hosted the opening night’s ‘Paradise’ party.

Saturday boasted the biggest day of events for Honolulu Pride 2023. Starting us off was the Honolulu Pride Parade led by Grand Marshal, Sasha Colby! Beginning from the aptly named Magic Island, the parade followed a 5km route along the main boulevards of Honolulu. The Parade run concluded at Kapiolani Park and led into the Pride Festival, which showcased performances from headliners Sasha Colby, Kerri Colby, Laganja Estranja, Mark Kanemura, and more. The official after-party at Hula’s Bar & Lei Stand, before The bisexual dream pixie, Alan Cumming, performed live at the Hawai’i Theatre, with the party continuing well into the early morning hours with a late-night party to quench your thirst for more.

Concluding the festival on Sunday 22 October, festival goers were welcomed to a Drag Brunch hosted by Kerri Colby to help soothe any sore heads and get them back into the partying spirit. Finally, a Lei Pool Party at Swell Restaurant and Pool Bar was the very best way to relax on the final day of Honolulu Pride in a breezy style.
