On Sunday 18 February, the Big Gay Out took over Auckland’s Coyle Park with stalls, DJs, live performances and appearances from some of New Zealand’s most influential politicians.

While the hot family-friendly daytime event was a success, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Opposition Leader Chris Hipkins were drowned out by a group of people protesting the situation in Gaza.

“It was a shame the conversations with the Prime Minister were cut short due to loud protests about an unrelated cause,” Burnett Foundation Aotearoa Chief Executive Joe Rich admits to YOUR EX, “but we will continue engaging constructively with the Government to ensure we are making progress on great health outcomes for our communities.”
