The executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has committed to opposing the proposed policies of a potential second Trump administration on pivotal issues such as abortion, border security, and LGBTQ rights.
Anthony Romero, the ACLU’s executive director, vowed “to combat” these plans, stating in an open letter on the organisation’s website, “We know that a second Trump administration will be even more aggressive and effective than it was before.”
The ACLU has a history of challenging the previous Trump administration on several key fronts. Its actions included opposing Trump’s restrictions on abortion access for immigration detainees, pushing back against his efforts to tighten asylum requirements for migrants, and contesting his attempt to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census.
