The Vivienne first rose to prominence in the UK drag scene in 2015, when she was crowned the first RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Ambassador by RuPaul. In 2019, she cemented her status as a household name after winning the inaugural season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. During the competition, she bravely shared her experiences with addiction, expressing a desire to inspire and help others.

Born in Wales and later establishing her drag career in Liverpool, The Vivienne returned to Drag Race in 2022 for All Stars 7, the show’s first-ever all-winners’ season. Her career spanned TV, theatre, and advocacy, making her a beloved figure in the LGBTQ+ community.

The Vivienne continued to shine post-Drag Race. In 2023, she reached the final of ITV’s Dancing on Ice alongside professional skating partner Colin Grafton. A year later, she took on the iconic role of The Wicked Witch of the West in a West End revival of The Wizard of Oz.

Her personal life also made headlines. In 2019, she and her then-partner David Ludford made history as the first couple to marry at the legendary gay nightclub Heaven. The pair later separated in 2023.

In June 2023, Williams faced a shocking homophobic attack at a McDonald’s in Liverpool. The assailant, Alan Whitfield, received a suspended sentence in January 2024.

The Vivienne’s final television appearance aired in December 2024, when she joined the celebrity line-up for a festive edition of Blankety Blank.

The loss of The Vivienne leaves a significant void in the world of drag and beyond. She will be remembered for her immense talent, courage, and vibrant spirit.
