Cooper Koch, the breakout star of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, has reiterated his support for Lyle and Erik Menéndez in response to District Attorney Nathan Hochman’s opposition to their request for a new trial.
Koch, who does not have his own social media accounts, shared his statement via his brother Payton Koch’s Instagram story.
The Monsters actor expressed deep concern over Hochman’s stance, writing: “I am deeply troubled by the statement made today by District Attorney Nathan Hochman.”
“It is still my firm belief that the Menendez brothers did not receive a fair second trial and all of the evidence that supported their claims of sexual, psychological, physical and emotional abuse at the hands of their mother and father were not considered.”

He concluded by encouraging continued advocacy for their cause: “I remain hopeful that there is still a path forward that will lead to their freedom, so I encourage all of their supporters to keep their voices strong.”
Koch’s Continued Advocacy
As Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story gained traction on Netflix, Koch made headlines when he accompanied Kim Kardashian on a visit to the Menéndez brothers in prison. The visit allowed them to hear directly from the real-life individuals behind the dramatized series.
Despite Koch’s vocal support, Monsters showrunner Ryan Murphy distanced himself from the real-life case, stating he had “no interest” in meeting Lyle and Erik. Similarly, Koch’s co-star Nicholas Alexander Chavez, who portrayed Lyle in the series, previously discussed the importance of separating himself from the roles he plays.
Throughout the series’ rollout and beyond, Koch has consistently advocated for the brothers’ right to request a new trial. His latest statement reinforces his stance in light of Hochman’s opposition, signalling his unwavering belief in their fight for justice.
