Alex Consani, the trans model and social media star, is taking a stand against anti-trans trolls and the harmful policies enacted by the Trump administration, reaffirming that the trans community is here to stay.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Consani described the growing political attacks on trans rights as “scary,” particularly for trans youth who have little power to fight back. Since taking office, former President Donald Trump has signed executive orders restricting trans rights, including mandating that the federal government recognise only two genders and forcing trans people’s passports to list their sex at birth instead of their gender identity.
Despite the challenges, Consani is using her influence—bolstered by over 4 million TikTok followers—to push for change and amplify trans voices.
“I like to do as much as I can. I speak publicly about what I believe in, and that makes me hopeful,” she said.
Having grown up online, Consani is no stranger to hateful comments. But instead of letting the negativity affect her, she uses it as motivation.
“I’ve always gotten hate, and I’ve always known that it’s coming from a place of self-hatred,” she explained. “No one takes time out of their day to go online and talk negatively about someone unless they have self-hatred within their own head.”
She remains unbothered by trolls, embracing the attention they bring. “If you want to hate on me? Do it. Do it, because you know what that means? More clicks, more views, more money for me, babe.”
Consani considers herself fortunate to have been surrounded by love from her family, but she knows not all trans people have that same support. She wants to make sure that others don’t have to endure the same struggles alone.
“Sometimes it can get you wrapped up in the negativity, when that’s never been what our community is about,” she said.
Her message is clear: despite oppressive policies and online hate, the trans community remains strong. “Even in the face of such negative policies, we’re able to recognise that we as a community can’t be affected. We’re never going to go away. We’re never going to go away.”
