The Gilded Age star Christine Baranski and singer-songwriter King Princess (real name Mikaela Mullaney Straus) have set the internet buzzing after they were spotted holding hands at the Broadway re-opening of Mamma Mia!.
The sighting quickly fuelled speculation that the two may be romantically linked, despite their 47-year age gap. King Princess added to the excitement by posting a photo of them hand-in-hand to her 755,000 Instagram followers, captioned simply: #loveislove.
Fan reactions
Fans were quick to jump in with comments under the post:
- “My fave thing about this is I don’t know if this is real or not.”
- “Omg hi Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor xx,” one user joked, comparing them to another well-known Hollywood couple with a significant age gap.
- Another added: “I honestly can’t tell what’s happening here, but I love that the girls and the gays are finally giving Christine the attention she deserves.”
‘Let’s give them something to talk about’
In a May interview with Interview Magazine, King Princess playfully warned Baranski that people would “talk” about their closeness.
Baranski responded with her trademark wit:
“Our first date, let’s give them something to talk about. We actually got dressed up and finally had dinner. I remember we went to this chic, French-y watering hole. We sat at the bar, ordered martinis, and suddenly we’re talking about our grandmothers who deeply affected and influenced our lives. I think that’s where we profoundly bonded.”
How they met
The pair first connected in Munich, Germany, while filming season two of Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers, led by Nicole Kidman.
Whether their bond is romantic or simply a close friendship, fans seem delighted to see Baranski and King Princess supporting each other both on- and off-screen.
