She came. She served. She conquered. Michael Marouli has been crowned the first-ever winner of Drag Race Down Under Vs The World, taking home AUD$50,000 and international bragging rights after eight weeks of drag chaos.
The British queen defeated Australian favourite Art Simone in the final lip sync, bringing the inaugural international edition of the Down Under franchise to an emotional close.
M1ss Jade So and Vybe completed the final four, making it one of the strongest finale line-ups of the season.
But after one last performance, runway and lip sync, there could only be one Queen of the Mothertucking World.
And that queen was Michael Marouli.
Four Queens, One Final Challenge
The finale began in suitably unserious fashion with a game of “wig snatch” before Michael, Art, Vybe and M1ss Jade So were given their final major challenge.
The queens had to write their own verses and tackle their toughest choreography of the season for an original track, Get Down.
Each finalist also sat down with host Michelle Visage to reflect on their journey through the competition before returning to the main stage.
Then came the final runway.
M1ss Jade So delivered gleaming golden fantasy, Michael arrived in a dramatic gold silhouette, while Art and Vybe each brought distinctly Australian drag energy to their final looks.
At this point, nobody was exactly making Michelle’s decision easy.
Vybe And M1ss Jade So Miss The Final Two
Michelle eventually announced that Vybe would be the first finalist eliminated.
The Sydney queen left graciously, thanking Michelle and reflecting on how much the experience had changed her life.
Then came another elimination.
Art Simone was announced as one half of the final lip sync, leaving Michael Marouli and M1ss Jade So waiting for the final decision.
Michael advanced.
M1ss Jade So finished joint third alongside Vybe, bringing an end to a run defined by elaborate runway concepts and her gloriously strange “Goddessa” universe.
Naturally, Jade did not leave quietly.
Rather than simply walking offstage, she made an appropriately chaotic exit through the back of the set, leaving the remaining queens and judges laughing.
If you cannot leave with the crown, you may as well leave through the scenery.
Michael Vs Art
That left Michael Marouli and Art Simone facing each other for the crown.
Both had entered the finale with four badges and compelling cases for the title, so their final lip sync to RuPaul’s Adrenaline genuinely felt close.
Art brought her trademark theatricality and comedy, while Michael delivered the polished, high-energy performance that had made her one of the season’s most consistent competitors.
Then reigning Drag Race Down Under champion Lazy Susan returned to hand over the crown.
Michelle announced Michael Marouli as the winner.
“This is for anyone who ever dared to have a dream,” an emotional Michael said following her victory.
“To my Down Under sisters and my international goddesses, I love you all! UK Hun!”
Michael also reflected on what the win meant for her home in north-east England.
“I’m so proud of myself. This has been a lifelong dream realised, and I’ve worked so hard for this.”
“The UK are gonna be so proud, especially in the northeast. Things like this don’t happen to people like me.”
A New International Queen Is Crowned
Michael walks away with the crown, sceptre, a cosmetics prize and AUD$50,000.
More importantly, she becomes the first queen ever to win Drag Race Down Under Vs The World.
The season brought together performers representing Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the US, Spain and the Philippines, giving the Down Under franchise its biggest international showcase yet.
For Kiwi audiences, it also marked another expansion of the franchise born out of Drag Race Down Under, with New Zealand drag represented this season alongside some of the biggest returning queens from across the global Drag Race universe.
Eight episodes later, one thing is settled.
Michael Marouli is officially Queen of the Mothertucking World.
UK Hun, indeed.
