Gay adult performer and model Alfonso Osnaya says he was knocked unconscious outside a well-known LGBTQ+ bar in San Francisco after being mocked over his work in adult entertainment.
Osnaya says the incident happened outside Beaux in the Castro District on the morning of 17 September, following a confrontation that began inside the venue.
“I got beat up last Thursday morning by a group of gay guys,” he told Out.
According to Osnaya, a group of men made judgemental comments about his profession inside the bar. He initially walked away, but says he encountered the group again after leaving.
“They were waiting for me outside,” he said. “I got knocked out, and the next thing I knew, I had the people from Beaux helping me out while the paramedics and cops did their job.”
Osnaya said he was grateful the incident did not leave him with more serious injuries.
‘They Were Mocking Me For My Job’
Osnaya believes the confrontation was prompted by stigma towards his work as an adult performer.
“They were mocking me for my job,” he said. “They claimed to know who I was and what I did for a living.”
He acknowledged that he reacted to the comments and now wishes he had disengaged sooner.
“I took that very personally. I guess I took the bait and I feel stupid,” he said.
“They were instigating things. They were out looking for a fight. I should’ve disengaged.”
There has been no publicly reported confirmation from police that Osnaya’s profession was the motive for the alleged assault, meaning that remains his interpretation of what happened.
Osnaya Shares Injury After Incident
Shortly after the incident, Osnaya told his Instagram followers that he had been attacked in the Castro.
He also posted a photograph showing a cut above his right eyebrow.
“This is how slut-shaming looks like,” he wrote alongside the image.
While Osnaya says he lost consciousness, he also said he did not suffer serious injuries.
Staff from Beaux assisted him after the incident, according to his account, while paramedics and police also attended.
Stigma Within Queer Spaces
The alleged attack has prompted renewed discussion about stigma towards sex workers and adult performers within LGBTQ+ communities.
The Castro is one of the world’s best-known queer neighbourhoods and has long served as a centre of LGBTQ+ nightlife, activism and community life.
But being inside a queer space does not necessarily remove judgement around sexuality, gender expression or sex work.
Adult performers can face stigma both outside and within LGBTQ+ communities, despite the industry having deep connections with queer culture, sexual liberation and the history of LGBTQ+ media.
Osnaya’s account highlights the uncomfortable reality that queer spaces are not automatically free from prejudice directed at other members of the community.
At the same time, the circumstances surrounding the incident have so far been described publicly primarily through Osnaya’s own account.
A Familiar Face In Gay Adult Entertainment
Osnaya began working professionally in adult entertainment in 2021.
He has since appeared for studios including Falcon, NakedSword, Trailer Trash Boys, SayUncle, Carnal, Men.com and Lucas Entertainment.
He has also built a sizeable online following through modelling and social media.
Following the incident, Osnaya’s message was less about retaliation than recognising when a confrontation is no longer worth engaging in.
His account also raises a broader question for queer nightlife: how inclusive are LGBTQ+ spaces when people can still face judgement because of the work they do?
For Osnaya, the incident was straightforward enough to describe.
He says he was mocked for his profession, confronted outside and knocked unconscious.
Whether investigators ultimately establish a specific motive remains to be seen.
