Tom Welling gave fans a little more of the New York skyline than expected after an Instagram Story appeared to catch his nude reflection in a hotel window — and he seems to have taken the mishap in good humour.
Smallville star Tom Welling appears to have accidentally shared a rather revealing hotel-room reflection while in New York for Comic Con.
The 49-year-old actor posted a photo of the Manhattan skyline to his Instagram Stories on Friday 9 October with the caption, “Hello NYCC.”
But fans quickly noticed that Welling’s reflection was visible in the glass — and appeared to show the actor standing nude while taking the photo.
The Story was deleted several hours later, although screenshots continued circulating across social media.
Rather than pretending it never happened, Welling appeared to see the funny side.
Commenting beneath a reel poking fun at the photo, he wrote simply:
“Came for the sights.”

Michael Rosenbaum joins the joke
Welling’s longtime Smallville co-star Michael Rosenbaum soon got involved.
Rosenbaum, who played Lex Luthor opposite Welling’s Clark Kent, recreated the hotel-window pose while wearing underwear and strategically holding up a sign reading “PERVERTS”.
“Just looking after my boy @tomwelling,” Rosenbaum captioned the post.
Welling then reshared Rosenbaum’s effort to his own Instagram Stories, suggesting there were no hard feelings about the attention.
Smallville cast reunites at New York Comic Con
Welling was in New York for a Smallville reunion at New York Comic Con, where he appeared alongside Rosenbaum, Kristin Kreuk and Erica Durance.
The Saturday 10 October panel, titled The Road to Superman: 25 Years of Smallville, marked a quarter-century since the superhero series first premiered in 2001.
Welling played Clark Kent throughout all 10 seasons of the show, which followed the future Superman through his teenage and young-adult years before he fully embraced his superhero identity.
The series ended in 2011 after more than 200 episodes.
So while the cast reunion was meant to celebrate 25 years of Smallville, Welling managed to generate an entirely different kind of nostalgia before the panel even began.
At least he came prepared with a sense of humour.
