Labour MP Louisa Wall’s SOP (Supplementary Order Paper), number 432, has been rejected by the Government Administration Select Committee.
The SOP would have amended the Human Rights Act 1993, Section 21 (1) (a) by clarifying that sex discrimination includes gender identity.
The Committee did not consider the Statutes Amendment Bill to be the right vehicle for the amendment.
No doubt the issue will be raised again post General Election, but in the meantime our transgendered community remain in a state of limbo.
