The Auckland Rainbow Community Church, supported by St Matthew-in-the-City, are holding a memorial service for Orlando on Sunday 19 June at 7.30pm.
The service will include the reading of the names and lighting a candle for each person who died, and composing a message of hope in the form of a banner, which will then be sent to Orlando. This will be followed by a reading of “After Orlando: Gay Love”, a poem by Carol Ann Duffy. “Imagine” by John Lennon will also be sung in memories.
Mark Hangartner of ARRC told express that “everyone is welcome but especially any who want to add their voice of support to those in Orlando by writing a message on the banner. It will be a church service at our usual time and as always open to anyone of any faith or none.”
Auckland Rainbow Community Church and St Matthew-in-the-City say that they “want to stand in solidarity with those affected by the terrible events of 19 June in Orlando, Florida.”
